Layher Côte d’Ivoire is providing high-quality scaffolding and expertise for the renovation work on the presidential palace.

The Presidency of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, a symbol of state authority and architectural gem located in Abidjan, has just undergone a major transformation thanks to a large-scale renovation project. Led by the Ivorian company PFO Construction, this extraordinary project relied in particular on the technical expertise of Layher Côte d’Ivoire, a subsidiary of the world leader in modular scaffolding systems. We look back on a strategic collaboration that combines innovation, safety and respect for heritage.

An exceptional project for a symbolic building

The Presidential Palace, built in 1961 by the Founding Father and first President of Côte d’Ivoire, H.E. Félix Houphouët Boigny, was in urgent need of renovation to meet contemporary standards of safety, functionality and aesthetics. The project, launched in 2022 at the instigation of the Ivorian government, aimed to modernise the infrastructure while preserving the historical integrity of the building. To meet this challenge, PFO Construction, a local company renowned for its achievements in major public works, joined forces with Layher, whose scaffolding was deployed throughout the site.

A tailor-made technical solution

The complexity of the project lay in the need to work on an occupied and active structure, requiring flawless logistics. Layher’s modular and adaptable scaffolding made it possible to meet the building’s unique architectural constraints, particularly its curved facades and varying heights. Layher’s Facade Frame Scaffolding System, renowned for its speed of assembly and stability, was the preferred choice.
Layher Côte d’Ivoire’s design office played a decisive role in providing 3D solutions for the renovation of the Presidential Palace. Thanks to precise modelling and calculation notes, the teams were able to anticipate technical challenges and adapt the scaffolding installations to the architectural features of the building. These 3D designs made it possible to:
Optimised planning of site operations, reducing the risk of errors and improving operational safety.
A realistic visualisation of scaffolding configurations, facilitating coordination between the teams at PFO Construction and Layher Côte d’Ivoire.
A tailor-made adjustment of technical solutions, thanks to a detailed analysis of existing structures and the specific constraints of the historic building.

This innovative approach contributed to a better understanding of the project and smooth execution of the work, thereby strengthening the synergy between technology and field expertise.

PFO Construction’s Expertise at the Service of Renovation

PFO Construction, a major player in the construction industry in Côte d’Ivoire, was tasked with this ambitious renovation project in 2023. The company brought together a team of experts and relied on high-level technical partners to carry out this historic project. The integration of Layher solutions into the renovation process perfectly illustrated the synergy between technological innovation and local expertise. The close collaboration between PFO Construction and Layher Côte d’Ivoire ensured the success of the project in strict compliance with safety and quality requirements.
The renovation of the presidential palace was not only a technical upgrade, but also a strategic investment in the future of Ivorian institutions. This project demonstrates the ability of local stakeholders to combine tradition and modernity. Layher scaffolding, by facilitating access to critical areas of the building, played a decisive role in optimising the work and preserving the national architectural heritage.
